Great Jones Distillery, New York Straight Bourbon (375ml)

Great Jones Distillery, New York Straight Bourbon (375ml)

Manhattan went a hundred years without a legal whiskey distillery. Great Jones ended that streak in 2021, setting up a working still at 686 Broadway in NoHo, a few steps from the street it takes its name from. The grain is all New York: corn, malted barley and rye grown in the Black Dirt region a couple of hours north of the city, mashed with Catskill Mountain water and aged upstate in charred American oak. The result is a straight bourbon with real corn sweetness, a rye kick, and enough oak to keep it honest. This is the 375ml half bottle, which is roughly a week of Old Fashioneds. Drink it neat, over one big cube, or stirred into the cocktail this island lent its name to.
