Laird’s, Applejack

From the great state of New Jersey, this is America's original spirit — apple cider freeze-distilled to produce apple brandy, blended with neutral grain spirits for a light, soft feel. Try it in a Jack Rose. Shake with ice, and pour into a coupe:

• 1 1/2 ounces Laird's Applejack or other apple brandy

• 3/4 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed

• 1/2 ounce grenadine

• Garnish: lemon twist
