Arnot-Roberts was founded in 2001 by Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts, childhood friends who grew up in Napa Valley, both sons of winemakers. They work with approximately 30 growers across California, focused on cool-climate sites and heritage varieties. The Montecillo Vineyard sits at 1,000-1,200 feet elevation in the Bennett Valley area of Sonoma County, planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1964—one of the oldest Cabernet plantings in Sonoma, on its own roots. The site receives cooling influence from the Petaluma Gap.
