Domaine Alary, Cairanne Blanc "La Font d'Estevenas", 2023

Ten generations of the Alary family have farmed in Cairanne since 1692. Denis and Jean-Etienne Alary now manage 30 hectares, certified organic since 2009. The white La Font d'Estevenas (name slightly changed in 2014 for appellation compliance) is 50% Clairette, 40% Roussanne, 10% Grenache Blanc—half fermented in demi-muids, half in stainless steel. Their Syrah parcel, planted in 1959, was reputedly the first Syrah block in the southern Rhône outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Cairanne achieved cru status in 2016. A white from one of the appellation's founding families.
