Eric Rousseau and his daughter Cyrielle now co-lead this benchmark domaine, working in the same classical mode that put their name alongside DRC, Roumier, Mugnier, and Dujac: earlier picking, partial whole-cluster, gentle pigeage, and aging in traditional 228L pieces. The 2022 vintage was warm and ripe but somehow stayed beautifully balanced, and the Charmes shows it perfectly. Silky and perfumed, the fruit leans cherry and pomegranate rather than black, lifted by rose petal and a whisper of spice. The texture is fleshy yet transparent, the acidity perfectly judged.
