Tement, Zieregg "XT" Reserve Grosse Lage Sudsteiermark Sauvignon Blanc, 2018

Tement, Zieregg "XT" Reserve Grosse Lage Sudsteiermark Sauvignon Blanc, 2018

XT stands for Extra Time, Extra Terroir, Extra Tement — and that's exactly what you get. The Tement family selected a portion of their 2018 Zieregg Sauvignon Blanc and left it to age sur lie in big casks for over 78 months before bottling. The wine that emerges is a different beast from a standard Reserve: complex, smoky, and pushed by long lees aging into territory that recalls top white Burgundy as much as anything from Styria. Notes of preserved citrus, lapsang souchong, and tropical fruit unfold over a creamy, powerful frame with surprising freshness. A library release from one of Austria's great vineyards, drinking beautifully now and built to keep going.
