Fernand Coudert bought the run-down estate in 1967; his son Alain has made the wine since the 1980s. The clos sits on an unusual band of clay-rich soil that gives a wine closer to Moulin-a-Vent than typical granite Fleurie. The Tardive comes from the oldest vines, around 80 years old, and the name signals a wine meant to be drunk later, not late-harvested fruit. The 2014, a fresh and elegant vintage, is now in a lovely mature window.
