Tellier, Champagne Extra Brut "Les Massales", NV [Base 2022]

Brothers Quentin and Alexandre Tellier launched their grower project in 2016, vinifying family vines that have sat in the villages of Moussy, Pierry and Chavot-Courcourt on the Coteaux Sud d'Epernay since 1938. Les Massales is their calling-card cuvee, named for the selection massale vines that make up most of their holdings, and a blend of the three classic Champagne grapes off that home turf. The Telliers farm organically, hand-harvest, keep only the free-run juice, and ferment and age everything in oak (barrels, demi-muids and foudres). This is the Extra Brut on a 2022 base, so it leans dry and gastronomic with real texture from the wood. A serious, low-dosage grower fizz at an everyday-pleasure level.
